Getting There & Travel
Most people arrive in Lanzarote by Air at Arrecife (ACE) Airport. This airport is also locally known as Guacimeta. The Airport is located between Arrecife (the Capital) and Puerto del Carmen.
Live Arrival and Departure information is available from the AENA website.
The Taxi fare from the Airport to Playa Blanca is about 40 Euros. The journey time is approximately 45 minutes.
It is also possible to fly to one of the other Canary Islands and then get a Ferry or Flight to Lanzarote.
You can also travel to Lanzarote from mainland Spain by Boat. There is a weekly ferry that leaves Cadiz in southern Spain on Saturday and arrives in Arrecife the following Wednesday.
Inter-Island Travel
The Canary archipelago is made up of seven principle islands, Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, El Hierro, La Gomera and La Palma. These seven islands are well-connected by Flights, Ferries and Fast-Ferries.
The small islands of La Graciosa and Los Lobos are also accessible. A ferry leaves from Orzola in the north of the Island for La Graciosa and several excursions provide day-trips to Los Lobos (a small island to the north of Fuerteventura).
Since the Canary Islands are less than 500km across, it is possible to take day-trips to see the other islands. Fuerteventura is easily accessible by Ferry from Lanzarote and the journey takes just twenty minutes. Binter and Islas Airways operate frequent (several times daily) direct flights to Santa Cruz in Tenerife and to Gran Canaria, from where it is possible to get to any of the other Islands.
